🌿 Finding Peace in the Busyness of Life

Welcome back to Queens & Daughters. I hope you're doing amazing today. It’s a new month and with it comes a fresh topic that feels especially needed: Finding Peace in the Midst of Everyday Busyness.

Let’s be honest—we all have duties to fulfill, deadlines not to miss, people to care for, and responsibilities that just keep piling up. So how do we find real peace and stillness in the middle of life’s chaos?

The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:14,

“Seek peace and pursue it.”

This verse alone reveals something powerful—peace isn’t passive. It’s not something that just settles on you. Peace must be sought out, and once found, pursued. It’s fragile. One small thing can shake it and usher in anxiety, frustration, or even burnout. We don’t need to look far to see how quickly peace can disappear—just turn on the news.

But today, I want to offer a different perspective. What if peace isn’t just a feeling or atmosphere, but a Person? Scripture calls Jesus the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Peace is not just something we get from Him—it is Him.

So let me ask you:

Could it be that in the midst of your busyness, you've lost track of Peace?

Could it be that the Lord Jesus—the very Prince of Peace—has moved on to a new assignment, and you’re still caught up in the last one?

Maybe what you’re doing now is something He once asked you to do. But for a season. Perhaps He’s taken a new direction, but you were too caught up in the doing that you didn’t notice He made a turn. And now you're running on empty, doing all the right things, even receiving praise from others—but deep down, there’s no true peace.

Pause. Reflect.

Because I’ll tell you this: if Jesus is not in it, there is no real peace.

People may be saying,

"Sis, you’re doing amazing! God bless you!"

And you might be looking up to heaven saying,

"Lord, look at all I’m doing for You!"

Yet, He’s quietly waiting for you to stop, listen, and catch up with Him on the new path.

It's like following GPS while driving. You miss a turn because you weren’t paying attention. Now you’re delayed, frustrated, and burning unnecessary fuel. Sometimes, we are the ones who create the chaos because we didn’t stay in tune with the Holy Spirit.

But here's the good news: even when we miss the turn, God—full of grace and mercy—will reroute us. You haven’t missed your purpose. Like a GPS, He recalculates your path to bring you back in alignment.

So today, take time to pray:

“Lord, where did I miss You? Are You still in this with me? Or have You moved on? Is this peace real, or am I just comfortable in motion?”

Because one day, all we’ve done will be tested by fire (1 Corinthians 3:13). Only what was truly led by Him will remain.

And don’t be discouraged if your current assignment seems small or unseen. If it’s what the Lord wants you to do—then to Him, it’s pure gold.

Sitting at His Feet

Let’s look at Luke 10:38–42—the story of Mary and Martha.

Martha was busy serving (a good thing, right?), while Mary simply sat at Jesus’ feet and listened. Yet Jesus commended Mary—not Martha.

Martha’s work wasn’t wrong. But in that moment, Mary understood the timing and the weight of who had come into their home. She wasn’t about to miss it. She chose intimacy over activity. And that, Jesus said, was the better part.

How often do we overcomplicate our lives with activity? Running from one meeting to another, attending every conference, ticking every ministry box… but neglecting the One thing that matters: time with Jesus.

You can be doing all the right things—but miss the right Person.

I love this line from our song of the month:

“I can be in a crowd, or by myself, or almost anywhere. And I feel there’s a need to talk with God—He is Emmanuel.”

That’s so powerful. Even in a crowd, you can switch off and tune into Jesus. It becomes your secret place, your safety, your peace.

God delights when we come to Him like that—whether we’re 13 or 80. You are still His child. His arms are always open.

But finding that place of peace may take intentional effort. You might have to say “no” to some things, set boundaries, and develop spiritual discipline. But the more you practice, the easier it becomes.

So as we wrap up this month’s reflection, here are a few things to remember:

Peace isn’t passive—it’s a Person. His name is Jesus.

Stay in tune with the Holy Spirit’s leading.

Even good works must be rooted in relationship.

Don’t trade intimacy with God for applause from people.

Make space to sit at Jesus’ feet, like Mary did.
