Getting Ready for the Day of the Lord

One of the deepest heartaches for many of us is knowing we have loved ones—family and friends—who aren’t saved. If the Rapture were to happen today, they wouldn't be ready. And as much as we desire it, we cannot force salvation upon anyone. It must come by free will, a personal decision to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Even more sobering is this: some people think they’re saved, but in the eyes of God, they are not. They’re just ticking boxes—"I go to church," "I have this title," "I give to charity"—but their hearts are far from Him. Salvation isn’t about outward appearances; it’s about the state of the heart.

Remember 1 Samuel 16:7: “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

So let me ask you:

➡️ Why do you do what you do?

➡️ Why do you go to church?

➡️ Why do you give?

➡️ Why do you serve?

Is it to be seen, praised, or promoted? Or are you truly surrendered to the Lord? Have you yielded every part of your life to Him—even the parts that hurt?

What if He asked you to do something that would cost you your reputation, your comfort, or even your closest relationships? Would you still say, "Here I am, Lord, use me"?

Let’s talk about that prayer: “Lord, use me.”

When something is “used,” it’s often no longer glamorous. It’s been through something. It carries marks, wear, and history. And yet, that’s exactly what we’re asking God to do when we say “Use me.” We’re inviting Him to take us through fire, molding, and testing. Not for our fame or convenience, but for His glory.

So many want the spotlight, the platform, the mic. But God sees the motive behind every prayer. He tests our hearts to see if we’re ready—not just to shine, but to stand in adversity.

Even Jesus—the Son of God—spent 30 years preparing for a 3-year public ministry. Imagine that. No rushing. No spotlight. Just quiet obedience, until the Father said, “Now.”

Today, social media makes it easy to chase attention. But the real question is: Have you gone through the preparation God has for you? Can He trust you with the weight of the assignment?

The Day of the Lord is near—nearer than we think. I’ve heard “Jesus is coming soon” all my life, but now, more than ever, I believe it with all my heart. I truly believe we are the generation that will witness the return of Christ.

Will you be ready?

Will you be like the wise virgins, whose lamps were full of oil, prepared for the Bridegroom’s arrival?

Or like the foolish virgins, who were waiting too—but unprepared?

“For we say this to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then we who are alive, who remain, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Therefore, comfort one another with these words.”
